The Divide

As an onslaught of nuclear missiles from an unknown assailant falls on New York City, a small group of tenants and the caretaker of an apartment building manage to find refuge in the building’s bunker-like basement. But as the days and nights slowly tick by, their sanctuary starts to resemble something more akin to a living hell. Adding further terror to the situation, the shelter is unexpectedly attacked by mysterious armed assailants wearing hazmat suits, their motives unknown but their merciless method of assault all too clear. This new threat forces the trapped victims to unite against a common enemy but it is a unity that proves to be short-lived.

The Divide (cert. 18) is released by Momentum Pictures and will open at selected UK cinemas on 20th April 2012. It will be available on Video On Demand from 30th April 2012 and available to Download and on DVD (£12.99) from 14th May 2012.

Hobo Fan Reviews

Hobo With A Shotgun has received rave reviews from genre enthused online reviewers, while some of the more high-brow critics failed to get it. No matter, Hobo was made for fans, not academics and it's the people who love low rent, high impact B-cinema entertainment that have really taken the film into their hearts.

Genre movie lovers on the CULT LABS FORUM are fulsome in their praise for Hobo With A Shotgun:

“Hobo is a wicked awesome throwback film to the good ol' Grindhouse movies. It's full of potty mouthed folk, violence and everything including the kitchen sink!” - Necromantik

“Gory as hell, brilliantly written humour, easily one of the best films I've seen in a long time. A truly excellent throwback to a truly great genre.” - Earthworm Swiss

“(Director) Eisener shows a very clear competence for movie making and the love for 60s, 70s ”and 80s exploitation shows in every frame of Hobo" - Wayfarer

“A superb throwback/homage to the ‘Gore’den Era of the 80's. It's clear that Jason Eisener and co have painstakingly and purposely created a film that looks, sounds and feels like it belongs in the 80s. Destined for cult status, although I feel it has already gained the notoriety and respect that it so well deserves” - Antmumford

“Hobo with a Shotgun is without doubt one of the most grimy, disgusting, morally depraved films in recent times. It also a lot of fun and for these reason go see it. I loved it!” - Prawnee

“Everyone should have a copy of this film, go and buy it right now!” - Enterthehero

“…A genre classic and the makers and actors must be applauded for their work.” - Rotten

PART 2

PART 3

It began as an award winning “fake” Grindhouse trailer that embodied the genre far more successfully than anything produced by Quentin Tarantino (Death Proof) and Robert Rodriguez (Planet Terror) and became an internet sensation via YouTube. Now, Hobo With A Shotgun, director Jason Eisener’s affectionate and remarkably authentic tribute to the exploitation movies of the 1970s and 80s, is a full-on, no-holds-barred, kick-ass movie that has led DreadCentral.com to proclaim, “given all of the over-the-top gore, buckets and buckets of blood, bouncing boobies, and a fair amount of laughs, you cannot go wrong checking this one out.”

Starring Rutger Hauer (Blade Runner; Sin City; The Hitcher) in the title role and inspired by exploitation classics such as “Street Trash” and “The Exterminator” amongst others, Hobo With A Shotgun goes one better than recent homages to the genre such as “Machete” and “Drive Angry” by being “the only recent example of cinematic retro-sleaze that could plausibly be mistaken for a piece of straight-to-video nastiness that has been collecting dust on a shelf since 1983” (Eye Weekly).

When an ageing Hobo (Hauer) jumps from a freight car in a new city hoping for a fresh start in life, he soon realizes he has well and truly reached the end of the line. He finds himself trapped in an urban hell, an anarchic world overrun by murderers, rapists, paedophiles, petty crooks, prostitutes and corrupt cops. Reigning supreme over them all is the city’s crime boss, Drake (Brian Downey), and his two insanely sadistic sons, Slick (Gregory Smith) and Ivan (Nick Bateman). All the Hobo wants is to be able to afford to buy a second-hand lawn mower from the local pawnshop, start his own small business and make the city a more beautiful place. But a run-in with Slick and Ivan while trying to rescue pretty hooker-in-distress Abby (Molly Dunsworth) changes all that. Pushed beyond his limits, he decides to arm himself and go about changing things in an entirely different way to mowing lawns.

An unmissable tour-de-force of gratuitous violence, gore and bloody mayhem, Hobo With A Shotgun is “gloriously goofy gratification” (Twitchfilm) and “is so incredibly over the top with its excess, fans of the genre are going to be bowing to it” (Slashfilm).
